Here are some ideas for simple projects that we do at our club meetings that make a BIG impact in our community!

Care Cards:
Create handmade or store bought holiday, birthday or get well cards for members of your community or donate to your local children’s hospital. Write encouraging or inspiring messages inside each card and deliver as necessary. Remember to sign each card from your club.

We do this project multiple times each year: Valentine's Day, December Holiday and get well cards and send them to local senior centers.

Coloring/Activity Book Kits:
Purchase coloring books and 4 packs of crayons from your local dollar store and put in manilla envelopes for your local police or fire station.

Decorative Pillow Cases:
When children stay in the hospital, they typically get a boring white pillowcase. Add some fun to their stay by decorating and donating more colorful ones.

Grip Socks:
Hospital floors can be very slippery—which can lead to injuries when children or elderly adults who are stuck in the hospital want to play or walk around. Make their days safer by simply decorating the bottom of the socks with puffy paint.  Tip: make sure the paint is really thick for extra traction.

Tie pieces of fleece together to make cute and easy blankets to be donated to a local Children's Hospital, shelter, or police department.

Paracord Bracelets:
Parachute cord (also called paracord or 550 cord) is a lightweight nylon rope originally used in the suspension lines of parachutes. This cord is useful for many other tasks and is now used as a general purpose utility cord for both safety and leisure activities by both military personnel and civilians.  They can be donated to active military or boyscout troops.

Tote Bags:
When a child comes to the trauma center or hospital setting, family members often must drop everything and rush to the hospital where they may find themselves unprepared for an overnight (or longer) stay. Welcome bags containing items such as toothbrush and toothpaste, snacks, parking and restaurant vouchers and information about local services help families during the initial period of their child's treatment.  Donate to KPTI or your local Children's Hospital for families of trauma patients.
